Market turmoil gives hedge fund managers a chance to shine

 

As we shared with Reuters, LLP, manager selection in 2022 is becoming increasingly vital. Data from our Composite Index showed that dispersion is upwards of 23% between the 75th and the 25th percentile of managers – the highest level since the 2008 financial crisis.

For context, this is nearly double the 10-year annual average of 12.3%. Another interesting finding from our monthly Pivotal Point of View was that the larger hedge funds have outperformed their smaller counterparts, though for different reasons depending on the strategy.

What does all this point to? It tells us that while strategy selection is important, as always, equally important in this market is picking the right manager.
