Our Team
PivotalPath’s leadership team has decades of combined experience as hedge fund practitioners, allocators and software developers.

Mr. Caplis serves as PivotalPath’s CEO, responsible for setting the firm’s strategy and overseeing all aspects of the firm’s operations. Mr. Caplis also serves on PivotalPath’s board.
In his 10 years of direct hedge fund experience, Mr. Caplis served as co-head of portfolio allocation and risk management at Campbell & Co., a multi-billion dollar systematic hedge fund. He served as a member of the Campbell’s investment committee, and headed up the firm’s specialized recruiting effort.
Prior to joining Campbell & Co., Mr. Caplis was co-founder and chief operating officer of Global Domain Partners LLC, a systematic hedge fund. He was responsible for running the quantitative research team, the investment process, trading execution, compliance and oversight, and all other operational aspects of the firm.
Mr. Caplis began his career as an analyst/trader at Chesapeake Partners LP, a multi-billion dollar event-driven hedge fund. Mr. Caplis is Series 3 licensed and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Spinu serves as PivotalPath’s Chief Technical Product Manager, responsible with the firm’s quantitative research development.
Dr. Spinu has a decade of experience in investment research and portfolio management, most recently as a director of quantitative investments with the Ontario Pension Plan OMERS, where he was in charge of running a multi-billion dollar systematic futures portfolio. Prior to that, Dr. Spinu was a senior researcher at the systematic hedge fund Campbell & Co.
Previously, Dr. Spinu was an assistant professor of mathematics at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Spinu holds a PhD in Mathematics from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University.

Mr. Schneider serves as PivotalPath’s COO, responsible for Finance, HR, Compliance and Marketing Strategy as well as partnering in the overall management of the firm.
Mr. Schneider has over 25 years of senior management experience. He has held Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer positions at Deutsche Asset Management, New York Life and Bank of America/Merrill Lynch. Steven has also held leadership positions at Semper Capital and Campbell and Company.
Over the past several years, Steven has been an expert consultant at the US Department of State’s Agency for International Development working on economic development projects in the Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Schneider serves on the Board of Directors at Hands in 4 Youth. Steven earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and an Undergraduate Degree from University of Arizona.

Mr. Teitel serves as PivotalPath’s institutional sales director, leading the firm’s sales initiatives. In addition, Mr. Teitel provides a systematic approach to structuring the sales team’s internal processes and organization.
In his role, Mr. Teitel focuses on building new relationships with endowments, foundations, family offices, and other institutional investors who allocate to hedge funds. His consultative sales approach is critical to understanding the needs and solutions for potential clients, specifically in their due diligence process.
Mr. Teitel has over a decade of sales experience with a focus on B2B data and analytic SaaS sales. Prior to PivotalPath, Mr. Teitel served as a Territory Director for Moody’s Analytics REIS Network, providing institutions and private equity companies with a full suite of data and analytics. Prior, Mr. Teitel worked at a SaaS CRE data start up Reonomy where he helped craft and implement a formal sales process resulting in early success.
Mr. Teitel received his B.A. from Bucknell University.

Ms. Darr is the Chief Operating Officer at Racon Capital Partners; a Milwaukee based alternative investment firm. In her role, Jackie is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, including marketing and investor relations and has over-site of the Firm’s venture capital investments.
In addition, Jackie is a General Partner for the Wisconsin Super Angel Fund, a Milwaukee-based venture fund focused on identifying, capitalizing, and mentoring early-stage companies. Prior to this, Jackie led the Business Development efforts and served as Chief Administration Officer at Stark Investments, a global, multi-billion-dollar, alternative investment manager. Prior to joining Stark in 2006, Jackie held management positions with Novo Recruiting and Strong Investments, and, previously, ran her own recruiting consulting firm.
Jackie is a Board Member at RentCollegePads, Wellntel, and P3media, three of Racon Ventures portfolio companies. Additionally, she sits on the Board of SecureFutures, a non-profit focused on providing teen financial literacy education and mentoring and serves as a Trustee at the University School of Milwaukee.
Jackie earned a Bachelor of Arts from Lake Forest College and lives in Whitefish Bay, WI with her husband Omar and two children Jackson and Mia.
John Stanfill is an executive level business professional who has been focusing on subscription-driven information services companies for more than 20 years.
Mr. Stanfill was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of RainKing Software, a private equity-backed information services company that provides sales intelligence on technology, marketing and finance decision makers globally. RainKing had a successful exit in an all-cash deal in August, 2017.
Prior to joining RainKing Software, Mr. Stanfill was an executive officer and Senior Vice President of Sales & Customer Support at CoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP), where he held numerous senior roles at the organization over 19 years. Mr. Stanfill’s contributions were instrumental in CoStar’s growth from $2 million in revenue when he joined the company in 1995 to nearly $600 million and a market capitalization over $5 billion when he left in 2014.
Mr. Stanfill received a B.A. from Boston University.
Mr. Thalheimer is the Chief Executive Officer of Lord Baltimore Capital Group, a $1 Billion investment and real estate firm with investments in both marketable and alternative investment vehicles.
His work experience includes 10 years practicing commercial law, 15 years in business management and 15 years in family office investment management.
He has also served on the Investment Management Committees of multiple non-profit organizations over the last 20 years.
Mr. Thalheimer holds degrees from Amherst College and New York University School of Law.
Ms. Wijnberg is a Former Partner, Chief Administrative Officer and Member of the Board of Aquiline Holdings, a registered investment advisor managing approximately $3.0 billion in private equity funds. Ms. Wijnberg retired from Aquiline in 2015 and currently acts as an executive advisor to the firm. From 2000 to 2006, Ms. Wijnberg was SVP & Chief Financial Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., a global professional and financial services company. Previously, she was the SVP, Treasurer and Interim CFO of YUM Brands, Inc. and held senior financial management roles at PepsiCo, Inc. The first twelve years of her professional career were in progressively senior roles in investment banking and firm management, working for Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers and predecessor firms.
Ms. Wijnberg currently serves on the Board of Directors of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. and of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. She served on the Board of Directors of Tyco International plc from 2003 to 2016, and on the Board of Directors of TE Connectivity Ltd. from 2007 to 2009. She has also served on several private portfolio company boards on behalf of funds managed by Aquiline.
From 2014 to 2015, Ms. Wijnberg took a leave of absence from Aquiline to work at the behest of the US State Department at the Office of the Quartet (OQ), based in Jerusalem, where she was the Deputy Head of Mission. She is also a trustee of The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and the Chairman of Spark MicroGrants, and a member of the board of Seeds of Peace.
Ms. Wijnberg earned an M.B.A from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mr. Youngblood is the Managing Partner of Gallatin Capital LLC and has been responsible for all aspects of the operation and supervision of the Firm’s business since its founding in early 2003. From early 2000 until Gallatin’s spin off and founding, he was a Managing Director of Moore Capital Management, a New York based private investment manager of hedge funds and other alternative investment vehicles, where he was responsible for the business development and client services groups.
From 1991 thru early 2000, Mr. Youngblood was a Managing Director of what is now JP Morgan Chase, serving as Group Head of Private Placements and Structured Securities since 1993. He was responsible for overseeing the private placement of domestic and cross-border debt and equity securities, supervised Chase’s arbitrage collateralized loan and bond obligation businesses and served on the Commitment Committee for the Investment Banking Division. Before joining Chase, he was a Director in the Private Financing Group at Prudential Securities, Inc.
Mr. Youngblood began his career at Lehman Brothers where he handled all aspects of private placements and investment banking projects for energy, utility and other companies as an Associate and later a Vice President.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College and a Masters of Management degree, Beta Gamma Sigma, from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Mr. Youngblood is Chairman of the Board of Directors of PivotalPath Inc., a member the Board of Trustees of Carleton College and of the Board of Directors of the Kent Memorial Library in Kent, CT.

Mark Doherty is a hedge fund research professional with over 25 years of industry experience, during which time he has been responsible for manager selection, asset allocation and ongoing monitoring of multi-billion dollar hedge fund portfolios
Mr. Doherty was Head of Research at PivotalPath, where he oversaw the due diligence process, setting research initiatives and participating in client interactions. From 2007-2012, Mark served within the management team for Citadel, LLC’s equity platform business. During his tenure, in addition to sourcing managers, he acted as an advisor to the existing portfolio managers. Prior to Citadel, Mark worked as hedge fund allocator at Deutsche Bank from 2004-2007, UBS Financial Services from 2002-2004 and JP Morgan from 1999-2002.
Mark earned an M.B.A from the Stern School at New York University and holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Drew University. He has been a CFA charter holder since 2000.
Samuel Jacob is experienced in capital raising, consulting and financial advisory services for clients in financial services, technology, healthcare processing, entertainment and business intelligence and active as a private investor. He was advisor to the CEO at trueEx, the world’s first CFTC-designated, Dodd-Frank compliant exchange for interest rate swaps.
Samuel is currently advisor to the CEO of KraneShares which provides global investors with ETFs for the next wave of China’s development. He is also a Partner at Atrevida Partners, a private asset management firm focused on preserving and enhancing clients’ wealth by investing in alternative investments.
Previously, Samuel was Vice-Chairman of Emigrant Savings Bank in New York as well as Chairman and CEO of Emigrant Mortgage Company and Emigrant Funding Corp. He was also a Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase where he was responsible for relationships with banks, central banks and finance companies globally.
Additionally, Samuel spent 16 years at Bankers Trust in the US, Europe and Asia. He was a Partner and Senior Managing Director holding numerous positions including Head of Global Fixed Income Sales and Deputy Head of the Asia Merchant Bank. During his tenure, he was also a senior member of a team that pioneered credit derivatives and executed the first credit swap.
Samuel is a Co-Founder and Board Member of Rockhouse Foundation which is committed to improving the human condition of Jamaica’s children. He also does group mentoring at a halfway house for young people who have aged out of foster care in NY City.
Mr. Lerner is Partner and Chief Business Officer of Monimus Capital Management, LP, a long/short manager. Previously, he was Senior Advisor to Raging Capital Management, LLC, a long/short manager. From 2013-2020 he was Venture Partner at Princeton Equity Group, LLC, a growth equity investment firm. He also is a director of Evermore Global Advisors, LLC, an investment manager focused on European special situations.
Mr. Lerner previously co-founded several investment firms, including Partners Capital Investment, Group, LLC and Mount Lucas Management Corporation. He was a director of Resource America, Inc. (NASDAQ: REXI), an asset management company that specialized in real estate and credit investments. Additionally, he was Associate General Counsel at Commodities Corporation (USA) NV. Mr. Lerner has been an early-stage investor in several private investment research companies including Intralinks, Gerson Lehrman Group, CallStreet and Majestic Research.
Mr. Lerner received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor degree from Boston University Law School, and is a member of NFA.
Mr. McLaughlin is the founder and CEO of J. H. McLaughlin & Co., LLC, a business strategy and practice management consulting firm serving the wealth management industry and family offices.
He has over 25 years of experience in both senior operating roles and client-facing roles in the family office and ultra high net worth industry and a history of building organizations across a variety of private wealth management models. He has worked directly with firms and families across the country and developed an extensive professional network that he can call on for complementary capabilities to serve his clients.
Previously, he was CEO of Geller Family Office Services, the New York-based MFO. Before that he was a partner at Convergent Wealth Advisors (formerly Lydian Wealth Management) where he built the firm’s New York office, Mellon where he was the regional president of Mellon Private Wealth Management’s New York region, and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc., where he started in the wealth management industry as a financial advisor in the Private Client Group.
He serves on the Subscribers Advisory Committee for PURE, a policyholder-owned property and casualty insurance company. He is an Emeritus Trustee of the American Foundation for the Blind where for many years he chaired AFB’s investment committee. He serves as an advisor to Addepar, Inc., an investment management reporting company, the Advisory Board of Pennington Partners, a multi-family office, and the Editorial Board of Family Wealth Report.
Mr. McLaughlin received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Lafayette College and his Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
David Puth’s career spans more than three decades, encompassing key leadership roles in financial services, payments, and technology sectors.
Mr. Puth is the CEO of Centre, the company that governs the technology, policy, compliance, audit and reserve standards for USD Coin (USDC), the world’s fastest growing dollar-based digital currency. Centre was founded with the mission to connect every person, merchant and financial service in the world through the power of digital currency and open, public blockchain networks.
Prior to joining Centre, he served as the CEO of CLS Group, a Designated Systemically Important Financial Market Utility, and the leading provider of risk management and operational solutions for the global foreign exchange market.
Mr. Puth also spent 19 years at J.P. Morgan, where he served on the Executive Committee and the Investment Bank Management Committee. He has held key leadership positions in various industry bodies and has worked closely with policy makers on regulatory issues and on best practices for financial markets.
Mr. Puth has held numerous public and private corporate board and advisory positions and is actively involved with non-profit activities. Since 1998, he has been a member of the board of the Robin Hood Foundation in New York and of the board of the Institute for Contemporary Art in Boston since 2009.
Mr. Puth is a graduate of Tufts University with a B.A. in Political Science.
R. Todd Ruppert is the founder and CEO of Ruppert International, a firm with diversified interests globally in various fields including education, financial services, disruptive technologies, publishing, arts & entertainment, and strategy consulting. He is chairman of RSR Partners, The World Trade Center Institute, and London’s Royal Parks Foundation (USA). He is a global ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, and a board member of Afriex, Antler, Culture3, Hitlab, Infinity Creative Media, Pirkx, Rocket Dollar, Shetland Space Centre, Storelli Sports, The Talent Bank, The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was a board member of INSEAD Business School from 2012-2021 and currently is a member of its Advisory Council.
Todd is an advisor to fintech advisory firm SenaHill. Todd has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. He retired from T. Rowe Price, the global asset management firm with over $1.3 trillion under management, where he was CEO and president of T. Rowe Price Global Investment Services, co-president, T. Rowe Price International, and a member of the operating steering committee of the T. Rowe Price Group. He also retired from Greenspring Associates, a $17 billion venture capital firm, where he was a venture partner.

Todd is the executive producer of three documentary films – A Year in Burgundy, A Year in Champagne & A Year in Port.
Dr. Vogelstein is a preeminent big data and machine learning expert within the fields of neuroscience, statistics and computer science. As an expert in all three fields, he conducts research at their intersecting points, to enable hybrid vigor from cross-fertilization of ideas.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Medical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, and core faculty in both the Institute for Computational Medicine and the Center for Imaging Science, as well as a member of the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute.
Prior to his role at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Vogelstein was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at JHU and was later appointed an Assistant Research Scientist and member of the Institute for Data Intensive Science and Engineering. He then spent 2 years at Information Initiative at Duke University.
Dr. Vogelstein’s research has been featured in a number of prominent scientific and engineering journals and conferences including Annals of Applied Statistics, IEEE PAMI, NIPS, SIAM Journal of Matrix Analysis and Applications, Science Translational Medicine, Nature Methods, and Science.
Dr. Vogelstein received a B.S degree from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 2002, a M.S. degree from the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics (AMS) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, MD in 2009, and a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Neuroscience at JHU in 2009.
