Stockpicking hedge funds make comeback in market turbulence

The market volatility of 2025 has been challenging for investors – but it may just be the shot of energy that the equity long-short sector was waiting for.

As we shared with Amelia Pollard for The Financial Times, equity long-short funds returned 3.5% in June and 9.2% year to date. These  returns, and an environment of high volatility given a continuously fluctuating tariff policy, seem to have inspired the first inflows from institutional investors to these funds in almost a decade.
